Welcome October: A Gentle Reset for the Season Ahead

Welcome October: A Gentle Reset for the Season Ahead

Welcome, October!

It always feels like time starts passing by a little faster this time of year.

And while I absolutely love the changing seasons, cooler mornings (even though Florida hasn’t gotten the memo yet), and ALL things fall, this time of year also makes me want to pause and reflect for a minute.

Have I really been taking care of myself?
Have I been stressing over things that don't deserve so much of my energy?
Have I been listening to what my mind and body have been trying to tell me?

So, as we begin flowing into the darker months of the year, I tend to find myself wanting to turn inward a little more.

Before we know it, Thanksgiving will be here... then Christmas... and no matter how hard we try to avoid it, stress has a funny way of sneaking in.

So this month, I'm making myself a promise.
I'm going to take care of ME just a little bit more than usual.
I'm going to pay attention to what I want and what I need.
I'm going to notice where I need to make small adjustments and where I need to lean in instead of push through.

Turning 43 has really put a lot of things into perspective.
For one, I'm not interested in chasing perfection anymore.
But I AM interested in feeling good.
Thinking like this is better for my health. Better for my longevity. Better for my vitality.
Because, if I'm being honest...Life is really starting to get exciting now.
And I want to enjoy every bit of it.

One thing I've become more intentional about is planning little moments of self-care that actually fill me up. Not just physically...But mentally. Creatively. Emotionally.

I want to feel inspired. Curious. Present.

But before I run off trying to experience the world through that lens, I like to give myself a simple reset. Nothing complicated. Just five quiet minutes to check in with myself.

My 5-Minute Monthly Reset
At the beginning of every month, I like to grab a cup of coffee or tea, my journal, and find a quiet place where I can actually hear myself think. (Hmmm, maybe this time i’ll do this at the park since the weather is getting a little cooler)

Then I ask myself these four questions:

  • What gave me energy last month?
  • What drained my energy?
  • What do I want more of this month?
  • What's one small thing I can do this week to take better care of myself?

That's it. No vision board. No twelve-step plan. No pressure to reinvent myself.
Just a gentle conversation with ME.

Sometimes the answers surprise me. Sometimes they just confirm what I kinda already knew.
Either way, I start the month feeling a little more grounded and a little more intentional.

And honestly… That's all I'm looking for.

If you've been wanting to create more intentional moments like this but aren't sure where to begin, that's exactly why I created The 5-Minute Reset Guide.

It's filled with simple reset rituals designed for real life. You know, those moments when you're feeling overwhelmed, overstimulated, disconnected, or simply need a reminder to slow down and breathe. Because sometimes five intentional minutes can completely change the direction of your day.

So before October gets busy...
Take a few minutes for yourself.
Check in.
Take a walk.
Read a chapter of that book that's been sitting on your nightstand.
Light the candle.
Use the fancy soap.
Or simply sit in the quiet for a little while.

The holidays will come.
The to-do lists will still be there.
But the way you choose to care for yourself today is shaping the woman you'll become tomorrow.
And I don't know about you…but I'm really looking forward to meeting the leveled up version of ME.
